Cinco de Mayo Community Celebration set for Saturday

NORFOLK - In conjunction with Cinco de Mayo the Norfolk Mayor’s Diversity Council will be hosting a community celebration.

Pastor David Martinez with Northern Heights Baptist Church says there will be a lot going on for their celebration with all of it being fun for everyone.

“We three different bands that will be performing live music. We have a band from Mexico, Cuba, and a different band playing mariachi. We’re going to have food for free from some of the restaurants around town. we’ll also have tacos, pinatas, and games for the kids.”

Leading up to the event a Margarita Challenge sponsored by local Mexican restaurants will take place with the winner being announced at the celebration.

Martinez says free will donations will be accepted with the money being used to fund future culturally diverse events in the community.

The celebration will be held Saturday from 11AM to 2PM at Central Park.
