Boy left in hot car dies; father charged with child abuse
SMYRNA, Tenn. (AP) — A 3-year-old Tennessee boy who was left in a hot car has died and now his father is charged with a felony.
Smyrna Police Chief Kevin Arnold told news outlets Daylin Palmer was found unresponsive in a car at a home Thursday afternoon. Arnold says officers tried to revive the boy but were unsuccessful.
Jail records state 23-year-old Dylan Levesque is charged with aggravated child abuse and neglect. Arnold says Levesque is Palmer’s father. The police chief believes the boy was left unattended in the car for two hours.
Arnold says detectives investigated the circumstances around how the child was left in the vehicle, which led to the father’s arrest. Details about those circumstances were not reported.
It’s unclear whether Levesque had an attorney who could comment on his behalf.
