Rain turning to snow, breezy winds on tap for Cleveland Monday: Weather forecast

CLEVELAND, Ohio – A quick, sharp shift in the jet stream will return winter to Cleveland today. Temperatures will dive back down into the 30s and 40s, and scattered rain will turn over to snow.

Morning commuters will want to -- reluctantly to say the least -- grab that winter jacket out the door as the temporary warm-up is over, and the chill has returned. Expect temperatures in the low 40s, with breezy winds making that feel closer to the mid 30s. Scattered rain is possible for the drive in, and snow could mix in at times.

In the afternoon rain chances lull but they don’t clear completely. Between showers clouds will stay mostly cloudy, preventing afternoon warmth -- highs will only reach 42 degrees. Those breezy winds will keep around the chill.

In the evening, scattered chances go up again slightly as they make the shift from rain, to a mix, and then over to snow for the late evening and overnight. Temperatures will reach the mid 30s by midnight, but will stick around the low 30s overnight, allowing the scattered snow to continue. A dusting is possible, but most areas should see less than 1 inch by Tuesday morning.
