‘Luck of the Irish’ coming to Charleston
CHARLESTON — St. Patrick’s Day may be three weeks away but Charleston is going to get the party started now with its fourth annual Celtic Calling that runs Friday through Sunday, March 1-3, in downtown Charleston.
Celtic Calling kicks off at 11:30 a.m. at Rock City Cake Company with some pipe music and Scottish dancing then winds its way through the city with everything from Irish Road Bowling and a 5K Kilt Run to films, lectures, spinning and weaving, a Guinness Cooking competition, a Limerick workshop, Celtic church services and lots of music and dance including the Irish group The Jeremiahs on “Mountain Stage,” the Highlanders Ball, a FOOTMAD concert with Heron Valley from Scotland and, of course, more bagpipes than should be legal.
A complete schedule is available on the website CelticCalling.org, on the Facebook.com/CelticCalling, and on rack cards available throughout Charleston’s downtown retail establishments. Many of the Celtic Calling activities are free and all are open to the public.
