RADFORD, Va. (AP) _ A men’s assistant basketball coach at Radford was charged with breaking into a woman’s apartment and trying to remove her clothes, police said.
Chibi L. Johnson, 27, of Christiansburg, was being held without bond Friday on the felony charges of breaking and entering with intent to commit assault and battery.
Police said Johnson broke into the woman’s apartment near the campus at about 2:30 a.m. and pulled at her clothes. Johnson and the woman apparently knew each other, but were not involved in a relationship, Commonwealth’s Attorney Randal Duncan said.
Johnson, who played for the Highlanders for four seasons, joined the coaching staff in 2000 after serving as an assistant coach at Kings College in Scranton, Pa. for one year.
He was placed on paid administrative leave while the incident is investigated, Radford athletic director Greig Denny said.
