Stamford teen to join officials for ‘Childhood Cancer Awareness Month’ proclamation
HARTFORD — Stamford teen Grace Targonski will head to the Capitol Tuesday for a proclamation to declare September as “Childhood Cancer Awareness Month” in Connecticut.
Targonski, a 13-year-old eighth-grader at Dolan Middle School, will be joined by Sen. Carlo Leone, D-Stamford, and State Rep. Dan Fox, D-148, among other officials at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the State Capitol in Hartford for the proclamation.
Targonski is best know for her “Caring with Grace” bake sales and arts and crafts projects that raise money for children with cancer. She was motivated to create help children with cancer after watching her aunt fight a long battle with cancer.
