Connecicut Open Tennis great Lindsay Davenport returning to Connecticut Open
Lindsay Davenport, the 2005 Pilot Pen champion, is returning to New Haven next month.
Davenport will be the guest speaker at the Connecticut Open’s sixth annual Anthem Girls Symposium on Monday, Aug. 20. The Hall of Famer will speak to more than 100 female high school student-athletes about the role of sports in her life.
Davenport will also participate in a doubles exhibition following the Opening Ceremony and singles night session on Aug. 20.
Davenport is a five-time finalist in New Haven. She won 55 singles titles and 39 doubles titles during a 17-year career. She also won an Olympic gold medal.
“I always love coming back to New Haven,” Davenport said in a statement. “Being invited to take part in this symposium that focuses on all the good things sport can bring to our lives is a wonderful opportunity and hopefully I can have an impact on these young female athletes. I have a lot of good memories from playing in six finals here so it will be great to be back out on Stadium Court.”
