Young people eligible to hunt during youth-hunting weekend
MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) — Young people are in the forests of Vermont this weekend participating in the two-day youth deer hunting weekend.
Anyone who is 15 years old or younger for the Saturday-Sunday weekend who has successfully completed a hunter education course can participate if they have obtained a hunting authorization and obtained a free youth deer hunting tag.
The young hunter must be accompanied by an unarmed adult over 18 years of age who holds a Vermont hunting license.
Youth deer hunting weekend is intended to ensure that young hunters get the quality training they need for lifelong participation.
Vermont’s 16-day rifle deer hunting season begins Nov. 16.
