AARP TAX-AIDE

BULLHEAD CITY — The AARP Foundation’s Tax-Aide program is looking to expand its team of volunteers for the upcoming tax season.

Tax-Aide, now in its 51st year, offers free in-person preparation and assistance to anyone, especially those 50 and older, who cannot afford a tax preparation service.

Volunteers make a difference in their communities by assisting many older, lower-income taxpayers and their families who might otherwise miss out on the tax credits or deductions they have earned.

AMERICAN RED CROSS

BULLHEAD CITY — Are you looking for a way to help your community? American Red Cross volunteers touch lives every day.

Volunteers are as diverse as the people receiving Red Cross services. It takes all kinds of people to make the organization work — different ages, different backgrounds and different skills.

BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS

BULLHEAD CITY — The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Colorado River’s Thrift Store is looking for volunteers. Volunteer opportunities in the thrift store include sorting, cleaning, tagging and customer service.

CATHOLIC CHARITIES

BULLHEAD CITY — Volunteers are being sought to assist at the Catholic Charities Homeless day center in Bullhead City, 2135 Highway 95, Suite 145.

If you are interested in helping the area homeless population, we have several positions available, especially those willing to help serve food and to check in clients.

CERT

BULLHEAD CITY — The Bullhead City, Mohave Valley and Golden Shores Fire Districts are looking for individuals who have a desire to serve their community as a member of their community Emergency Response Team.

CERTs work together with other first responders within their community providing assistance with emergency first aid, triage, fire suppression, rehab, search & rescue and damage assessment activities during a disaster.

Applicants must first attend a two-weekend basic disaster volunteer training course provided by Mohave County Emergency Management before becoming a volunteer emergency worker.

The training program is free and can be attended by people who wish to protect themselves or their families during a disaster.

DRIVERS

BULLHEAD CITY — Volunteer drivers are needed for the Bullhead Senior Center. Center vans transport seniors to dentists, physicians, shopping and other places they need to go.

DRIVING INSTRUCTORS

BULLHEAD CITY — Volunteer instructors are being sought for AARP’s driver safety program in Arizona.

Instructors receive initial training, participate in instructor workshops and are required to teach a minimum of three classes each year. Instructors can set their own hours and teach classes on weekdays, weekends or evenings.

FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY

BULLHEAD CITY — Friends of the Library is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the Bullhead City branch of the Mohave County Library.

The group holds book sales and fundraisers to help provide support for the library and its programs.

Monthly meetings are held at 2 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month, September through May, at the library, 1170 Hancock Road.

Donations of books, CDs and DVDs are welcome at the library.

HOSPICE

BULLHEAD CITY — Compassus Hospice is seeking volunteers who can make a difference in the lives of our patients and their families in our community.

Volunteers perform a wide variety of tasks such as sitting with patients, giving family/caregivers relief, along with office assistance, filing and answering phones.

SEARCH AND RESCUE

BULLHEAD CITY — Mohave County Search and Rescue Volunteers meet at 6:30 p.m. the first Tuesday of each month at the police department training room, 1285 Alona’s Way, in the Bullhead City Administrative Complex.

Volunteers are trained on a variety of skills, from tracking to rope rescue, so they can assist as needed in finding lost and missing people.

SUNRIDGE VILLAGE

BULLHEAD CITY — Sunridge Village Assisted Living Community can use volunteers to visit with lonely residents, play games, assist with computers (Skype/Facebook/ E-mail), do arts, crafts or sewing projects, provide pet visitation, conduct light exercise instruction, and all forms of entertainment are appreciated.

VICTIM ADVOCATES

BULLHEAD CITY — The Bullhead City Prosecutor’s Office Victim/Witness Crisis Intervention program seeks volunteers to provide assistance to crime and accident victims.

Volunteer advocates provide on-scene assistance to people involved in such crisis situations as homicide, suicide, burglary, child physical and sexual abuse, domestic violence, assault, sexual assault and traffic accidents.

The course requires a commitment to free training, a valid driver license, transportation, and a fingerprint and background check.

LAUGHLIN — Volunteers In Partnership, a branch of the Laughlin Chamber of Commerce, is seeking motivated, positive, community-minded individuals to become its newest volunteers.

The organization promotes community involvement, provides a connection between the local community and business events and helps raise funds for Colorado River region nonprofits. Volunteers must be 18 or older.

WARMC Auxiliary

BULLHEAD CITY — Volunteers are being sought by the Western Arizona Regional Medical Center Auxiliary.

The auxiliary assists visitors, patients, their families and supports various hospital departments as requested. Volunteers are asked to donate at least four hours per week.
