Police roundup: Man charged in connection with armed robbery

HUNTINGTON - The following information was provided by criminal complaints filed in Cabell County Magistrate Court:

ROBBERY: One person was arrested Thursday in connection with an armed robbery that occurred Dec. 20, 2018, at a store in the 300 block of Norway Avenue in Huntington.

Donny Lee Cornell, 34, was jailed at 2:20 p.m. Thursday. Authorities in Cabell County charged him with robbery - second degree and possession of a controlled substance. Bond was set at $31,000.

According to the criminal complaint, Cornell was apprehended during a traffic stop around 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the 1200 block of 28th Street in Huntington. The driver was apprehended for allegedly driving under the influence once two open containers were located in the vehicle. The report states neither the driver nor Cornell was wearing a seat belt.

Cornell was identified as the passenger. He was taken into custody after he was allegedly found in possession of a syringe that contained a liquid, suspected to be heroin.

Cornell was named in a complaint that identified him as a suspect in a robbery in which he allegedly entered the store wearing a black ski mask and told customers and workers that he had a gun and to get down on the floor. The complaint states a customer told the suspect she was also in possession of a firearm, at which point the suspect fled the store.

Information report, 5:20 p.m. Wednesday, unit block of 27th Street.

Suspended/revoked license - miscellaneous, 5:25 p.m. Wednesday, 20th Street and Charleston Avenue.

Possession of a controlled substance, 4:16 p.m. Wednesday, 2100 block of 8th Avenue.

Petit larceny, 6 a.m. Jan. 6, 600 block of 10th Street.

Battery, 1 p.m. Wednesday, 300 block of 5th Avenue.

Petit larceny, 10 p.m. Jan. 18, 1400 block of 6th Avenue.

Forty-eight-hour parking violation, 1:01 a.m. Jan. 15, 13th Street and 8th Avenue.

Possession of a controlled substance, no seat belt, DUI less than 0.150, 10:39 a.m. Wednesday, Davis Street and 25th Street.

Possession of a controlled substance, warrant service/execution, 10:18 a.m. Wednesday, 1600 block of Doulton Avenue.

Information report, 8:06 a.m. Wednesday, 700 block of West 14th Street.

Open door, 6:09 a.m. Wednesday, 1100 block of Washington Avenue.

Petit larceny, 9 p.m. Tuesday, 200 block of Short Street, Guyandotte.

Petit larceny, 3:20 a.m. Wednesday, 200 block of 4th Avenue rear.

Possession of marijuana, 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, 12th Street and 13th Avenue.

The following information was provided by booking records kept at Western Regional Jail:

Jeremy Vincent Wardlow, 25, was jailed at 2:35 a.m. Thursday. Authorities in Putnam County charged him with breaking and entering and fleeing on foot. He was also jailed on an active warrant. Bond was not set.

Eric Branham, 38, was jailed at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Authorities in Wayne County charged him with being an accessory before the fact. Bond was not set.

George Willard Stapleton, 35, was jailed at 3:25 a.m. Thursday. Authorities in Wayne County charged him with possession of a precursor to manufacture methamphetamine, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, improper registration, driving on a revoked license for DUI and no proof of insurance. Bond was not set.

Abdullah Hazae Myles, 24, was jailed at 1:40 p.m. Thursday. Authorities in Cabell County charged him with possession with intent to deliver. Bond was set at $60,000.

Melissa Dawn Rolfe, 46, was jailed at 1:40 p.m. Thursday. Authorities in Cabell County charged her with possession with intent to deliver and authorities in Mason County charged her with burglary. Bond was set at $30,000 for Cabell County charges and $40,000 for Mason County charges.

Lawrence White, 25, was jailed at noon Thursday. Authorities in Putnam County charged him with receiving/transferring stolen property. Bond was set at $15,000.
