Man accused of shooting brother in the head on Christmas
BOILING SPRINGS, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina authorities said a man has been arrested and accused of shooting his brother in the head on Christmas morning.
Jorge Alberto Rodriguez, 26, was charged Thursday with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, news outlets reported.
Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Kevin Bobo said deputies responded to a shooting Wednesday and found Rodriguez’s brother with a gunshot wound to the head. Rodriguez’s mother was also at the scene covered in blood.
Bobo said Rodriguez fled before deputies could arrive.
The victim was hospitalized and, as of Thursday, is in critical condition.
An investigation determined Rodriguez and his brother got into a argument that turned physical and escalated, deputies said.
Rodriguez was found Thursday and arrested without incident. He’s scheduled court date is on Feb. 6. It’s unclear whether Rodriguez has an attorney who can comment on his behalf.
