Prep Boys Basketball: Marshfield handles South Umpqua at home

COOS BAY — Jordy Miles and Grant Woolsey each scored 14 points, and third-ranked Marshfield rolled to a 63-34 Far West League boys basketball win over South Umpqua Friday night at the Pirate Palace.

The Pirates (11-6, 3-0 FWL) led 32-19 at halftime.

Johnathan Warner scored seven points for the Lancers (4-12, 0-3). Dylan McFadden had six points and eight rebounds, Justin Thompson chipped in six points and seven boards, and Chris Martinez added six points.

“All-around, Marshfield is the best team we’ve seen this year,” said S.U. coach Brett Nixon. “They play strong defense and distribute the ball well.”

South Umpqua will host Brookings on Tuesday.
