Strong wind, terrain complicate firefighting in Wyoming

August 28, 2018

WHEATLAND, Wyo. (AP) — Strong wind and rugged terrain are complicating efforts to fight a wildfire in southeast Wyoming.

The fire had burned nearly 30 square miles (78 square kilometers) and at least one home as of Tuesday.

Authorities say people in the area of Green Mountain west of Wheatland should prepare for possible evacuation.

The Casper Star-Tribune reports rugged terrain and fire conditions have blocked firefighters from reaching some areas.
