BUCHANAN — A weeklong crime spree that included the theft of a Cartersville police car came to an end in Haralson County Friday night, according to Haralson County Sheriff Eddie Mixon.

According to Mixon and a sheriff’s office press release:

Mixon says that Rudy Lee Vinson, of Bremen, and Anastasia Nicole Earwood, of Ranger, no ages listed, were arrested around 7:30 p.m. Friday near Bremen.

According to a Cartersville Police Department press release, felony warrants were taken for Vinson and Eastwood after they stole a Cartersville patrol vehicle while under arrest for unrelated criminal charges Dec. 10. The patrol vehicle was later recovered Tuesday in Haralson County but both offenders remained at large.

On Friday, the U.S. Marshals Service tracked Vinson and Earwood through multiple states and located them in Cleburne County, Alabama earlier Friday. The pair struck a U.S. Marshal and took off, starting a high speed chase that crossed into Haralson County.

A short time later, Earwood was apprehended at the scene of an accident the two caused in Haralson County. Vinson fled into the woods and carjacked someone a short time later and ended up at Wal-Mart on U.S. 27 in Bremen.

Vinson entered the Wal-Mart, stealing a pair of shoes and knocking down a customer as he attempted to run from the store, but was arrested before he could.

Vinson and Earwood were both in the Haralson County Jail on Friday night. Vinson is charged with felony hindering the apprehension and punishment of a criminal, and Earwood is charged with felony theft by receiving stolen property.

Haralson County investigator Heather Mecillas said that “with a multi-jurisdictional investigation, such as this one, I would anticipate that the two will face a host of additional charges.”
