Area anglers compete in catfish tournament
More than just two area teams competed in last Friday and Saturday’s King Kat Catfish Tournament at Lake Cooper.
As reported Monday: Jim Gillenwater of Keokuk and Josh Mayes of Montrose came in second overall with a weight of 87.42, and Angie Lamb of Fort Madison and Scot Ruppert of Bonaparte came in 17th with a weight of 48.92.
Finishing 12th, however, were Dennis Smith of Burlington and Jesse Smith of Fort Madison with a two-day weight total of 56.08.
Larry Buchholz of West Point teamed up with Dan Randolph of DeWitt, Mo., for 13th at 55.78.
From Wever, Todd and Courtney Augustine finished 16th at 50.74. Nathan Blint of West Point came in 18th at 47.54. Ben Rule and Jacob Deroos of Montrose were 24th at 17.52. Michael and Heather Blint of West Point placed 25th at 11.66.
For big fish honors, Gillenwater and Mayes tied for third with a 13.26-pound fish, the Augustines tied with Rule and Deroos for sixth at 9.40, Randolph and Buchholz were seventh at 9.24, and Ruppert and Lamb were ninth at 6.48.
