Community shows appreciation for teachers through special activities, events
The Lake Havasu City community has gone all-out to show its teachers appreciation this week.
Teachers were showered with gifts and events for Teacher Appreciation Week through efforts by individuals, school support groups and local businesses.
The Parent Teacher Student Organization from Smoketree dubbed its version of the week-long celebration as “Educational Rock Star Week.” Teachers were encouraged to dress up as “rock stars,” and tickets are being awarded for the best costumes. Thunderbolt Middle School did something similar with a Western-themed week of events. Teachers have been treated to a few catered lunches, including one lasagna lunch from Mario’s Italian Restaurant.
The booster club at Lake Havasu High School held a luncheon for the teachers, and Calvary Baptist Church members organized teacher breakfasts. The Starline Parent Teacher Association has also provided catered meals for its teachers, including donuts at breakfast, with meals from Chico’s Tacos and Golden Corral for lunch. This was in addition to the PTA organizing a car wash for the teachers on Monday, and gathering several buckets of supplies for the teachers individually. Several schools, including Starline and Smoketree, hosted massage therapists to give relaxing massages to teachers.
