Man dies after bar shooting
HUNTINGTON — Police are searching for a Charleston man connected to a shooting at a bar in downtown Huntington early Sunday morning that left one person dead.
Interim Huntington Police Chief Hank Dial said a warrant for first-degree murder has been issued for Daniel Marcus Battle 33, of Charleston.
Dial said police are actively searching for Battle and are hopeful that he will be apprehended soon. Police received reports of a shooting inside Rehmy’s Lounge, 611 4th Ave, at 2:20 a.m. Sunday, Dial said.
Brent Anthony Jackson, 31, of Huntington, was taken to a local hospital, where he later was pronounced dead from gunshot wounds. Anyone with information about the incident is advised to call 911 or the Huntington Police Department anonymous tip line at 304-696-4444.
The incident marks the first homicide of 2018. Last year was one of the deadliest in Huntington city history, with at least 19 homicides investigated by the Huntington Police Department in 2017. The influx of homicide cases was in direct correlation to the drug trade and domestic violence, according to police.
