Asheboro man accused of filming himself abusing animals

A man was charged with animal cruelty and filming himself in the act, according to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office.

According to officials, a school resource officer received a tip on Thursday that a student was in possession of pictures and videos depicting himself abusing animals. The student was called in and admitted to having the media, officials said.

Joshua Brian Davis, 16, of Asheboro was charged on Friday with three counts of felony cruelty to animals. On Monday, he was charged with two additional counts of animal cruelty.

The videos and photos were seized.

According to the sheriff’s office, the North Carolina Wildlife Resource Commission was contacted and further charges may be forthcoming.
