Ukrainian, Russian legislators meet on crisis
VIENNA (AP) — Ukrainian and Russian legislators have met in what appears to be their first direct encounter since relations between the two countries deteriorated over the Ukrainian crisis.
The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe said the two delegations — the five-member Russian group and the eight-strong Ukrainian delegation — “welcomed the opportunity to have an exchange of views ... and agreed to continue their talks aimed at defusing tensions.”
Friday’s meeting at OSCE headquarters in Vienna was arranged by the Parliamentary Assembly of the 57-nation OSCE. The assembly groups members of parliament from OSCE member countries.
