PITTSBURGH _ Uber is resuming autonomous vehicle tests in an area near downtown Pittsburgh. The restart Thursday comes just over nine months after one of its autonomous cars struck and killed a pedestrian in Arizona. Testing has been suspended since the accident in March.
UNIVERSITY STUDENT-POISONING CHARGE
EASTON, Pa. _A former Lehigh University student accused of leaving racist graffiti for his roommate earlier this year is now accused of trying to poison him. UPCOMING: 300 words by 1 p.m.
_CATHOLIC SCHOOL-SEXUAL ABUSE _ A counselor at a Baltimore Catholic school has been removed from his post after sexual abuse allegations stemming from the 1980s surfaced in Pittsburgh.
_WOLF-MARIJUANA _ The Republican leader in the Pennsylvania Senate says he’s opposed to legalization of marijuana for recreational purposes and is criticizing the governor for saying it should be considered.
_ PACKAGE THIEVES-FIGHTING BACK _ Home surveillance cameras appear to be making a difference in the battle against “porch pirates” — people who steal packages off stoops and porches during the holiday season.
_ MAIL CARRIER BRIBED _ A Philadelphia man has been convicted of bribing a mail carrier to divert packages.
_ EXPLOSION-PENNSYLVANIA ENERGY FACILITY _ A man who was injured in an explosion at a MarkWest energy facility in Pennsylvania last week has died.
_ TURNPIKE-HOLIDAY TRAFFIC _ Pennsylvania turnpike officials say they expect 6.3 million vehicles to travel the turnpike during the holiday period beginning Thursday until Tuesday, Jan. 1.
