BOLOGNA, Italy (AP) _ Micheal Ray Richardson scored 25 points and got in a fight Thursday night as Knorr Bologna beat Philips Milan 78-71 in the semifinals of the Cup of Italy basketball tournament.
Richardson received a two-game suspension following a disqualification for punching an opponent. Richardson is playing his first season in Italy following a two-year NBA suspension.
Bob McAdoo, recovered from an injury that had sidelined him for several weeks, scored eight points.
MILAN, Italy (AP) - A.C. Milan has offered $5.3 million over three years to sign Brazilian soccer striker Careca, who currently plays for Napoli, according to a published report.
Milan’s sports daily, Gazzetta dello Sport, cited unidentified sources asd saying Napoli was offering Careca $3.8 million over three years.
Milan is looking for a forward to replace Marco Van Basten of the Netherlands, is having problems getting along with manager Arrigo Sacchi.
HINDELANG, West Germany (AP) - Edgard Grospiron of France won the men’s mogul competition finals Friday during the World Freestyle Ski championships.
Raphaelle Monod of France won the women’s mogul competition final.
Joerg Biner of Switzerland finished second in the men’s competition, followed by France’s Eric Berthon in third and American Scott Ogren in fourth.
Donna Weinbrecht of the United States finished in second in the women’s event, Tatjana Mittermayer of West Germany third and Liz McIntyre of the United States fourth.
