Wanted registered sex offender captured in Illinois
A registered sex offender wanted in Steuben County was arrested in McHenry County, Illinois, on Tuesday, the Steuben County sheriff’s department said.
Just before 10 a.m., Keith Adam Kappler was found and taken into custody without incident, the sheriff’s department said in a statement.
Kappler was wanted on allegations he was not living at his last registered address in Steuben County and had failed to notify the sheriff’s office, the statement said. It said investigators found that Kappler had left the state and reached out to the U.S. Marshals Service to find Kappler.
Kappler was charged with failure to register as a sex or violent offender and is in the McHenry County Jail awaiting extradition back to Steuben County.
