10 years ago34 workers sue Stamford construction companyA city construction company with a history of questionable labor practices has been sued by 34 immigrant workers for allegedly cheating them out of an estimated $250,000 in wages.The lawsuit, filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court, accuses National Carpentry Contractors Inc. and several company officials of paying less than the agreed-upon hourly rate, making unauthorized deductions and failing to pay overtime.The group of mostly male workers also claimed the company stopped paying them in June, leaving some with as many as eight weeks of unpaid wages.5 years agoStamford sausage maker sent packingDon’t stick a fork in DeYulio’s Sausage just yet.The 100-year-old family business was evicted by the city from its property at 161 Myrtle Ave. Monday morning without a place to go.
