NC woman gets murder charge in spouse ‘self-defense’ killing
HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. (AP) — Authorities in North Carolina say a woman who said she shot her husband in self-defense has surrendered on a murder charge after a lengthy investigation.
News outlets report Orange County Sheriff’s deputies responded to Teresa Mosser’s home in April 2018 after she reported she’d shot at her husband, but didn’t know if she’d struck him. She told deputies she was acting in self-defense.
A news release says it wasn’t the first time deputies responded to a domestic situation at her home. They were called to a verbal situation there the month before the shooting.
Nearly a year and a half later, and after what the sheriff’s office called “an extensive investigation,” the office issued an arrest warrant Wednesday.
Mosser surrendered Thursday. She has a Sept. 23 court date.
