Man sentenced to life for stabbing stepfather to death

ANDERSON, S.C. (AP) — A man who acted as his own lawyer has been found guilty of murder for killing his stepfather and sentenced to life in prison.

Prosecutors said a jury convicted Robert Frost on Thursday after a four-day trial.

Authorities say Frost was arrested in July 2012 when police arrived at the home immediately after he put a knife to his mother’s throat and demanded money, then stabbed his stepfather about 20 times. A neighbor called 911 after seeing Frost breaking into the Iva home.

Prosecutors say Frost’s trial was delayed for four years as he fired lawyers before defending himself. He claimed self-defense.
