December 5, 2018

Light-rail service between Fort Snelling and Terminal 2 at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport was disrupted Wednesday morning when a suspect fleeing police ran into a tunnel near Terminal 1.

A man driving a stolen vehicle ran as airport police attempted to make a traffic stop around 10 a.m., said airport spokesman Patrick Hogan.

He was taken into custody about 20 minutes later.

Metro Transit suspended Blue Line service as the incident unfolded. Replacement buses were being dispatched to ferry passengers between Fort Snelling and the airport stops until the scene clears, said spokesman Howie Padilla.
