GLASSBORO, N.J. (AP) _ Sophomore running back Jyi Peterson scored two touchdowns as Rowan College defeated Union College 38-7 Saturday in an NCAA Division III quarterfinal game.

Rowan (9-2-1) advances to the semifinals next Saturday to take on Washington & Jefferson College of Pennsylvania.

Rowan’s first score came with 5:54 left in the first quarter when defensive end Delorence Woodards intercepted a Tom McKeown pass and returned it 34 yards for a touchdown.

The Profs added a 27-yard field goal from kicker Tim Huckel in the second quarter and led 17-0 at halftime after Greg Lister scored on a 5-yard run with 23 seconds remaining.

Union (9-2) got its only points on McKeown’s 21-yard TD pass to Peter Buscemi in the third quarter.

But then the Profs pulled away, scoring 21 unanswered points. Rowan converted seven turnovers into 21 points and had three sacks.
