Pee Dee could see freezing temperatures Saturday night

WILMINGTON, N.C. -- A taste of winter will arrive in the Pee Dee this weekend courtesy a cold front that will cross the coast Saturday morning.

A high pressure ridge down the east side of the Appalachians will fuel cloudy skies and patchy light rain throughout Friday before the cold front blows through, plunging Saturday’s overnight lows down to freezing, or near freezing, throughout the Pee Dee, according to the weekend update issued by the National Weather Service office in Wilmington, N.C.

Florence is forecast to see clearer skies Saturday but with an overnight low of 32 degrees, 30 degrees in Hartsville and 33 degrees in Kingstree.

Forecasters in Wilmington said a freeze warning could be posted for portions of the Pee Dee later Friday.

Sunday, Veterans Day, is forecast to have a high in the mid-50s before clouds and rain return early next week and bring warmer temperatures with them.
