Westford Gymnasts Roll Up Big Numbers

The Westford Academy girls gymnastics team defeated Dual County League rival Acton-Boxboro 137.65 to 129.95 on Monday night in Westford.

High schools

The Grey Ghosts won in large part thanks to Kaitlin Murphy, who won three events plus the all-around. Murphy took the vault with a score of 9.5, the bars at 8.8 and the floor exercise at 9.2. Her winning all-around total was 36.3.

Ellie Cioffi took first place on the balance beam for the Grey Ghosts with a score of 9.3 and was also second on the bars and floor and second all-around at 35.25.

Westford’s Mina Kiefer took third on the bars and fourth on the floor while Riley Hayes was third on the floor.

Acton-Boxboro’s top performers were Justine Holt, Koharu Aoki, Elizabeth Driscoll and Anna Charisse.

The Hawks were led by Derik Linton, who scored 12 points and hauled down 13 rebounds. Innovation fell to 6-8.

The Innovation offense was sparked by Sarah Milne, who scored a game-high 16 points on the night.

Natalia Nickerson added 8 points along with 5 assists and 3 steals, and Delaney Brown had 5 points and 6 blocked shots.

Dracut/Tyngsboro outshot Latin Academy 40-15 but couldn’t get one past the opposing goaltender, who played a great game.

Jake Callery had 2 goals and an assist for D/T, with the other goal being a deflection by Mikey Collett.

Kyle McManus had 2 assists, Andrew Dickson, Brian Workman and Pat Crowley 1 each. Caulin Martel made 12 saves in net.
