Man pleads guilty to manslaughter in 2015 Portland killing
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A man who fatally shot a teen outside a Portland apartment complex has pleaded guilty to manslaughter.
The Oregonian/OregonLive reports Deandrea Sanders also pleaded guilty to aggravated murder in the July 12, 2015 death of 19-year-old Anthony Jackson.
Sanders is scheduled to be sentenced in Multnomah County Circuit in June.
Court documents say Jackson was standing in the Shalimar Apartments parking lot when someone ambushed him and fired 14 rounds from two different .45-caliber handguns. Jackson was hit in the head and died at the scene.
Documents say Sanders was pulled over for speeding four days later and arrested on gun possession-related charges.
Investigators didn’t link him to Jackson’s death until August, when the Oregon State Police Crime Lab matched shell casings and a bullet that struck Jackson to a gun seized from Sanders.
