Paula Abdul Files For Divorce From Emilio Estevez
LOS ANGELES (AP) _ Paula Abdul filed for divorce Tuesday from actor Emilio Estevez.
″It’s with tremendous reluctance and great sadness that I’ve taken this action,″ Miss Abdul, 31, said in a statement.
″Although our marriage did not work out, I have great affection and both personal and professional respect for Emilio. I know that we’ll continue to be supportive of each other in the future and that our friendship will go on.″
Estevez, who has been married to the entertainer for two years, had no comment, said his publicist, Lisa Kasteler.
Miss Abdul, a former Los Angeles Lakers cheerleader, is known for her debut album ″Forever Your Girl″ and her choreography in such productions as the film ″Coming to America″ and the video for her hit song ″The Way You Love Me.″
Estevez, 32, one of the original brat packers and a son of actor Martin Sheen, has starred in such films as ″The Breakfast Club,″ ″St. Elmo’s Fire,″ and ″Young Guns.″
It was the first marriage for each.
