CONWAY, N.H. (AP) — Officials say a Massachusetts woman is dead after being swept away by the waters of New Hampshire's Swift River.

WMUR-TV ( ) reports New Hampshire Fish and Game officials identified the dead woman as 56-year-old Siphal Hak, of Lowell, Mass. A second Massachusetts woman, 60-year-old Sanamaran Keo of Dracut, Mass., was rescued by the Conway Fire Department about 1,000 feet below the river's Lower Falls in White Mountain National Forest.

Officials say the women had been wading in the river at a picnic and swimming area above the falls Tuesday afternoon when they slipped and were carried downriver. They went over the falls while trying to help each other from the water.
