Lund, Walworth running for county seats
Eric Lund and Logan Walworth will vie for seats in their respective districts after filing to run as independent candidates on the November ballot before Thursday’s deadline.
Lund filed to run in the third district where incumbent Charles Lange is running for re-election as a Republican. Walworth filed to run in the first district and will challenge Wally Taranko, who is running for re-election as a Republican.
“I just kind of wanted to serve the community,” said Lund, who is in Bethesda, Maryland at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center where he is recovering after a double-arm transplant. “That was a place I was told I could do some good.”
Lund is still working with doctors after he received a double-arm transplant in November 2017. Lund is a retired U.S. Army sergeant and was injured in the War on Terror in Iraq in 2012 when the vehicle he and his fellow soldiers were inside was hit by an IED. It flipped, pinning him under the vehicle. His arms were amputated above the elbow following the accident.
