Sam’s Christmas Light Show moves to new location
WAUPUN — A holiday tradition in its 10th year moves to a new home this year.
The Christmas Light Show, offered as a present from Sam’s Well Drilling to the community since 2007, will relocate to Waupun.
The light show moves to a location on the side of the former Pamida building, 1134 W. Main St.
It will run nightly from 6 to 10 p.m., beginning Dec. 3 and run through mid-January and will feature two different performances of Christmas lights “dancing” to the music of the season. Each show lasts approximately 20 minutes, with the first starting on the hour and the other on the half hour.
Viewers can park where they can see the show and tune their radios to hear the music.
Nathan Bartlett, a senior project engineer with Advanced Energy Control, said the new location will offer more parking and more room for the show.
Faye Oosterhouse of Sam’s Well Drilling said the show became so popular, cars were often lined up on Pleasant Road, waiting for a spot in the parking lot.
“I’m not sure how we did not get in trouble for that,” Oosterhouse said.
She said work crews returning to the shop often had difficulty parking company equipment during the light show, due to its popularity.
Oosterhouse said the company has received many notes from people ranging from children to grandparents, thanking them for the show.
“It has become a tradition for a lot of families,” Oosterhouse said.
Bartlett said the location is not the only thing new about the show.
“We are upgrading the lights,” Bartlett said. “We will no longer be limited with bulbs that are only one color. These bulbs can turn any color we want.”
The show will feature RGB lights, which Bartlett said can be programmed to be any of 256 colors.
