Vice president’s niece in treatment after arrest
NEW YORK (AP) — A lawyer for Vice President Joe Biden’s niece says she’s undergoing treatment after her arrest on charges she scuffled with New York City police.
Attorney Ira London wouldn’t specify what sort of treatment 26-year-old Caroline Biden is undergoing or where she’s pursuing it.
She was excused from a court date Tuesday in her misdemeanor resisting-arrest case.
London and Manhattan prosecutors say they hope to resolve the case at her next court date, Feb. 5
Biden was arrested Sept. 17, after her roommate called police about a rent dispute. A criminal complaint says Biden hit an officer in the chest and resisted being put in a holding cell.
The vice president’s office has declined to comment on the case. His brother James Biden is Caroline Biden’s father.
