Andresen posts two state-qualifying times in Elkhorn
OMAHA — The Columbus High boys swimming team finished 10th and the girls were 11th Saturday at the Elkhorn Invite.
Omaha Marian won the girls title with 440 points and Elkhorn won the boys championship with 254 points. The Columbus boys had 49 points and the girls recorded 26.
Chase Andresen posted a couple of automatic state-qualifying times for the Discoverers. The senior was second in the 50-yard freestyle, touching in 22.19 seconds. Andresen followed that with a fourth-place finish in the 100-butterfly in 55.15 seconds.
Said Mendez earned a secondary state-qualifying time in the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.43. Mendez, Andresen, Trey Dallman and Konner Kudron combined for a secondary qualifying in the 200-yard medley relay, finishing sixth in 1:49.4.
Columbus’ Julia Salerno and Emily Miksch both posted secondary qualifying times in the 50 freestyle. Miksch was 23rd overall in 27.42 and Salerno finished 27th in 27.65.
