West Shore Community College considers campus-wide tobacco ban
VICTORY TWP. — The West Shore Community College Board of Trustees Monday heard a first reading of a proposal to ban all tobacco use and electronic smoking on campus this summer.
The college’s current policy, which follows the Michigan Clean Indoor Air Act, prohibits smoking inside all college-owned facilities and vehicles. Smoking is also prohibited outdoors on campus within 50 feet of entrances to WSCC buildings.
Vice-chair Richard Wilson read the proposed policy, which states: “No person shall smoke, chew or otherwise use tobacco products and electronic smoking devices on property owned or leased by the college. This policy includes all vehicles leased or owned by the college, but excludes private vehicles.”
