Jim Jones, former Idaho Chief Justice to speak to Pocatello Rotary

POCATELLO — Jim Jones, former Chief Justice of the Idaho Supreme Court, will be the guest speaker at this week’s Pocatello Rotary Club meeting. The luncheon meeting will be held at noon, Thursday, Aug. 24 at the Pocatello Clarion Inn, 1399 Bench Road.

Jones has entitled his remarks “The Historic Swan Falls Water Fight” and will address the history and creation of Idaho water law.

Jim Jones was elected to the Idaho Supreme Court in 2004 where he served until the end of 2016. He served as Chief Justice in 2015-2016. Previously Jones served as Attorney General for the State of Idaho having been elected in 1982 and leaving that office at the end of 1990.

Jones was raised on a farm near Eden, Idaho, attended Idaho State University for one year, served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam, was a Legislative Assistant in Congress, and served for many years as a private practice attorney in Jerome and Boise, Idaho.
