It’s Thursday, Dec. 28. Here is some of what Sun staffers and other news providers are working on for lowellsun.com and Friday’s print edition.

Reporter Chris Lisinski, clisinski@lowellsun.com, is learning from

numerous tax collectors that property owners are paying second-half

property taxes early in advance of changes in the federal tax code,

one of which will eliminate the property tax deduction.

The town of Chelmsford has instituted parking fees on top of

electricity fees at its three electrical car charging stations after

it discovered people were leaving their vehicles in the charging

spaces for several hours - sometimes days - at a time. Reporter Alana

Melanson, amelanson@lowellsun.com, has this story.

Our look back at 2017 continues with reviews of the top breaking

news stories from throughout the region. All Sun staffers contributed

to this report, and it was compiled by Reporter Rick Sobey,

Reporter Robert Mills, rmills@lowellsun.com, is reporting from

Lowell District Court that a Lowell father of two was arrested in

Tewksbury on a DWI charge. It was the man’s second. His two kids were

in the car with him.
