Woman severely hurt in house fire near Colorado Springs dies
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — A woman who was severely injured in a Christmas morning house fire near Colorado Springs has died.
The Gazette reports 80-year-old Sherry MacMahon was hurt in the fire in Black Forest, and the El Paso County coroner’s office announced Thursday that she died at a Denver hospital. Three other people were hurt in the blaze.
Black Forest Fire Chief PJ Langmaid says firefighters were initially sent to the wrong address and faced “significant water supply challenges.” Several agencies had to shuttle water to the home.
When firefighters arrived at the correct address, most of the home was engulfed. The blaze took more than 30 firefighters to extinguish.
