USC Aiken closes series with win
USCA 5, GEORGIA COLLEGE 4
Chandler Rogers lifted the first pitch he saw into shallow right field in the bottom of the eighth inning on Sunday to give USC Aiken the only lead it had over Georgia College all weekend.
Blake Seigler made sure it held up in the ninth and USCA closed the series with a 5-4 win.
The Pacers (11-6, 4-2 PBC) rallied from a 4-0 deficit starting in the bottom of fourth inning. Nile Goings continued his hot hitting and got things going for the Pacers with a solo home run to left field. The senior has a four game hitting streak and has hit four home runs during that stretch.
Daulton Weeks added another run to that in the sixth with a sacrifice fly. That set the stage for the three-run eighth inning that put the Pacers over the hump.
It didn’t hurt that the USCA bullpen held the Bobcats hitless over the final five innings. Daniel Wiggins (3-1) earned the win, pitched 4⅔ innings of relief and striking out four. Seigler pitched the final ⅔ innings to get his first save of the season.
Goings, Rogers, Conner Durden and Brian Parreira each had two hits in the game.
USCA is back in action on Tuesday evening at home against Chowan. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
