Man wounded in Elston Street shooting
MICHIGAN CITY — A shooting outside a home in Michigan City early Saturday that left one person injured was the only such incident in the city overnight, according to police.
The unidentified male victim was shot about 12:43 a.m. in the 2500 block of Elston Street, Michigan City Police said.
The victim was transported to Franciscan Health Michigan City for treatment, and was later airlifted to a nearby trauma center.
No arrests had been made in connection with the shooting as of Saturday morning.
Despite talk on social media of multiple shootings in the city overnight, Michigan City Police Chief Mark Swistek said Saturday that the Elston Street incident was the only shooting reported to police overnight.
Detective Jillian Ashley is lead investigator on the case. Anyone with information about the shooting should call her at 219-874-3221, ext. 1070.
