Patrol: Contractor struck, killed at Jamestown landfill
JAMESTOWN, N.D. (AP) — The North Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating a workplace accident that killed a contractor at the Jamestown landfill.
The patrol says the 65-year-old man was working at the landfill Saturday afternoon when a dump truck and a payloader struck and ran over him. He was pronounced dead at Jamestown Regional Medical Center.
No one was in the dump truck. The operator of the payloader was not hurt.
According to the patrol, the payloader was trying to push start the dump truck. The contractor was walking in front of the dump truck when the payloader began to push the dump truck. Both vehicles ran over the contractor.
KQDJ reports the victim was employed by On the Level Construction Inc. from Grafton. His name was not immediately released.
