Trump fumes over Fed Chair Powell: Darcy cartoon

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- While President Trump shut down the government over building his  Mexico border wall, Wall Street stocks have been tumbling down, and Trump is scapegoating Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell.

The Washington Post reported Trump questioned if 5′-3″ Janet Yellen was tall enough to serve as Fed Chair when considering her reappointment.  Now Trump would like fire her 6′ replacement, Fed Chair Jerome Powell, because the Federal Reserve keeps raising interests rates.

Trump, who uses the stock market as his economic scoreboard, is blaming the Fed for stock market dives and instability.

Twas the night before Christmas and not a creature was stirring, except Trump tweeting this:

“The only problem our economy has is the Fed.  They don’t have a feel for the Market, they don’t understand necessary Trade Wars or Strong Dollar or even Democrat Shutdowns over Borders.  The Fed is like a powerful golfer who can’t score because he has no touch- he can’t put.”

At the end of November, Trump’s gut was talking to him about the Fed as it digested Thanksgiving turkey, Coca-Cola and Cheetos.

“So far, I’m not even a little bit a happy with my selection of Jay. Not even a little bit.”

“I’m doing deals and I’m not being accommodated by the Fed.  They’re making a mistake because I have a gut, and my gut tells me more sometimes than anybody else’s brain can ever tell me,” Trump belched out.

Following reports that Trump had asked advisers if he could fire Powell, even though he meets the height threshold, acting Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney told ABC’s “This Week” that Trump “now realizes” he doesn’t have that power.

Tariffman Trump is not faster than speeding stock dive and doesn’t have the power to fire the Fed Chair.  But he can and has turned him into his latest scapegoat.

Generally, stock plunges and instability are the result of uncertainty and anxiety in the market.  Trump has provided plenty of volatility for the volatile market.

Powell didn’t introduce Trump’s idiotic tariffs.  Powell didn’t shut down the government.  Trump, Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter did.

Powell isn’t pushing for building Trump’s pipedream wall.

Powell didn’t induce Secretary of Defense James Mattis to resign in protest.  He did not implicate Trump in two felonies.   He is not responsible for any of the actions that led to the ongoing Mueller investigation that has resulted in multiple indictments, guilty pleas and convictions.

“My gut tells me more...than anybody else’s brain can,” said Trump.   Instead of following the Trump gut instincts that led to his multiple bankruptcies, business failures and decision to fire one of the most qualified Fed Chairs because she was too short, the safer bet would be to rely on Jerome Powell’s brain.
