Ohio woman sentenced to 5 years in prison

IRONTON — A South Point, Ohio, woman was sentenced Wednesday to five years in prison in a drug case.

Vanessa Woods, 30, of Ashland Drive, South Point, was sentenced in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court by Judge Andy Ballard. Woods earlier pleaded guilty to aggravated trafficking in drugs and aggravated possession of drugs.

As part of a plea agreement, prosecutors won’t oppose judicial release to a community-based correctional facility after she serves three years in prison. Her lawyer, Jason Smith of Ironton, said Woods wasn’t trafficking in drugs, but had a bad drug problem.

In an unrelated case, Gary M. Scott, 38, of Township Road 1040, Ironton, was sentenced to 17 months in prison in a drug case.

In other cases:

• Dakota B. Fleming, 22, of the 800 block of South 10th Street, Ironton, pleaded guilty to trafficking in drugs (meth). She was placed on community control sanctions for four years and ordered to complete a fourmonth program at the STAR Community Justice Center and do 200 hours of community service.

• Gerrica Woodyard, 24, of Township Road 1287, Chesapeake, pleaded guilty to possession of controlled substances (meth). She was placed on community control sanctions for four years, ordered to complete the program at STAR and do 200 hours of community service.

• William C. Webb, 32, of the 100 block of South 9th Street, Ironton, pleaded guilty to felony vandalism. He was placed on community control sanctions for four years and ordered to complete the program at STAR and do 200 hours of community service.

• Jarrod McKinney, 37, of Township Road 1 321, Proctorville, admitted violating community control sanctions. Those sanctions were extended by a year, and he was ordered to complete the program at STAR and do 200 hours of community service.

• Cassie Huff, 28, of West End Avenue, Huntington, pleaded guilty to possession of drugs (meth). She was placed on community control sanctions for four years and ordered to complete a six-month program at Mended Reeds in Ironton.

• Joshua T. Harmon, 64, of the 600 block of Monroe Street, Ironton, was placed on community control sanctions for four years in a drug case.

He was ordered to complete a program at the Veterans Administration and do 200 hours of community service.

• Vanessa Thibodaux, 30, of Private Drive 4649, Ironton, pleaded guilty to failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer. She was placed on community control sanctions for four years and ordered to complete the program at STAR and do 200 hours of community service.

• Jonathan Ratcliff, 22, of Township Road 1019, South Point, pleaded guilty to improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle. He was placed on community control sanctions for four years. He also was ordered to complete the program at STAR and do 200 hours of community service.

• Keith A. Dixon, 31, of Township Road 323, Ironton, pleaded innocent and not guilty by reason of insanity to charges of assault on a peace officer and theft. A competency evaluation was ordered at Court Clinic for Dixon.

• Ryan W. DeBord, 35, of East Street, Flatwoods, Kentucky, pleaded guilty to drug possession. He was placed in treatment in lieu of conviction and ordered to complete the program at STAR.

• Leidawn A. Vaughn, 26, of Bertha Street, Ashland, pleaded guilty to possession of controlled substances (meth). She was placed on treatment in lieu of conviction and ordered to do 200 hours of community service and get drug counseling. She also was ordered to refrain from the use of drugs or alcohol for a year. • Ellen Witten, 59, of Ironton, pleaded innocent to possession of heroin.

• Dina D. Blasko, of the 1900 block of North 3rd Street, Ironton, pleaded innocent to charges of tampering with evidence and identity fraud. Bond was set at $15,000.
