Tickets for ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ now on sale

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Attention fans of scruffy-looking nerf herders and big walking carpets, tickets for “Solo: A Star Wars Story” are now on sale.

Tickets hit the Internet as the clock struck midnight on Star Wars Day -- May the 4th (be with you) -- on Fandango, Atom and the major theater chains’ websites and apps.

The movie will be shown at more than 15 theaters across Northeast Ohio in standard format and 3D. For optimal viewing, check out the movie in IMAX 3D at Regal Crocker Park. Cinemark and Regal will show “Solo” in the chains’ premiere experiences, XD 3D and 3D RPX, respectively, at Cinemark Valley View, Cinemark Cuyahoga Falls and Regal Great Northern Mall.

Set about a decade before the events of the original “Star Wars,” the film is an origin story of how Han Solo met his trusty sidekick Chewbacca, won the Millennium Falcon from his frenemy Lando Calrissian, and became the famous pilot and would-be hero of the rebellion.

The film has been described as a western/heist movie. Directed by Ron Howard, the movie stars Alden Ehrenreich, Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Joonas Suotamo, and Paul Bettany.

If you want to see it opening weekend, put your ticket-buying efforts into hyperdrive. Though not expected to eclipse the openings of “Avengers: Infinity” or the two most recent episodes in the main “Star Wars” saga, “Solo” is tracking towards a huge Memorial Day weekend of $170 million. The movie opens on May 25 with preview screenings the night before.
