Orange PD: 4 juveniles arrested after pursuit in stolen car
ORANGE — Town police helped Derby police apprehend four juveniles after they allegedly led police on a pursuit in a stolen car and crashed into six other cars, officials said.
Orange police responded to Route 34 near Route 114 and Route 152 on Thursday for a report of a crash. But when officers got there, they found out it wasn’t just one collision.
Derby police tried to stop a stolen car in their town, but the car took off instead of stopping.
“Derby officers continued behind the vehicle into Orange, where the vehicle became involved in a number of collisions with other motorists,” officials said.
At least six vehicles were involved in the collision, officials said. Four of the six vehicles apparently suffered disabling damage. Several people were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the car was taken into custody, but the car’s three passengers fled. The passengers were taken into custody shortly after a search by Derby, Orange and West Have police.
Since all suspects were juveniles, no information was released about their identities.
