Mayfield man dies in two-vehicle crash in Lorain County

BRIGHTON TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A 57-year-old Mayfield man was killed and two other people, including a 1-year-old girl, were injured Monday in a two-vehicle crash, according to the Elyria post of the State Highway Patrol.

A news release from the patrol says the crash occurred just before 1 p.m. at the intersection of Quarry Road and Ohio 18.

Marty Miozzi was driving a 2007 GMC 3500 flatbed pickup truck south on Quarry Road when he drove through a stop sign.

The truck was struck by a 2017 Jeep station wagon heading east on Ohio 18.

Miozzi, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene. The female Jeep driver was flown to MetroHealth Medical Center, where she was treated and released. It’s unknown if she was wearing a seatbelt.

The 1-year-old passenger in the Jeep, who was secured in a car seat, was treated and released at Mercy Allen Hospital in Oberlin.

The crash remains under investigation, but alcohol and drugs are not suspected, the patrol says.
