Retail roundup: Ikea preview, new coffee shop open and more
Here’s the rundown: Ikea gave us a sneak peek of its new Live Oak store and Ikea opened their biggest shop yet.
Ikea’s 289,000-square-foot store near Interstate 35 and Loop 1604 is nearly finished. The store has 10,000 products and 40 room displays, as well as a restaurant, bistro and Swedish food market.
It won’t open for another few weeks, but people can get a first look inside the store at ExpressNews.com.
CommonWealth Coffeehouse & Bakery opened a new shop this week at 224 W. Evergreen near San Antonio College. It’s their biggest location and will help with production and distribution for all eight of their stores, said Marcel Arana, CommonWealth’s general manager for operations.
There’s seating and retail space, and eventually they’ll have areas for catering and coffee roasting, Arana said. The shop is open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekends.
The Gap and GapKids stores at Huebner Oaks Center are closing Monday, so customers have until then to pick up discounted items.
A Cuban restaurant on San Antonio’s Northeast Side has closed after about 16 months in business, staff writer Chuck Blount reports. Guajira Cuban Restaurant was located at 3261 Nacogdoches Road.
Pure Barre at Huebner Commons is holding a grand opening celebration Saturday. The exercise studio is putting on an open house and free classes Saturday morning and an evening cocktail party, according to a Facebook event.
