Margaret A. Hafemann

JEFFERSON -- Margaret A. Hafemann, 86, of Jefferson, passed away peacefully on Monday, Nov. 6, 2017, at Jefferson Memory Care.

Margaret was born on July 10, 1931, in Watertown, the daughter of Henry and Viola (Doogen) Wilde. On June 13, 1953, she married Wallace J. Hafemann at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Jefferson and the couple had two children. She was employed as a housekeeper at St. Coletta’s for nearly 30 years. Margaret was generous with her time and talents. She spent many years volunteering at Twice Is Nice and with the ladies aid at church. She is described as a wonderful wife and mother, and was always putting her family before herself. She was a “people person” and always wore a smile. She loved meeting new people and often shared her faith. She loved spending time outdoors and was an avid walker. Margaret spent her last year at Jefferson Memory Care and the family is taking comfort in knowing she is now with her Savior. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Wallace; son James (Linda) of Fort Atkinson; granddaughters Sara (Tito) Martinez and Mellisa (Julio) Gonzales; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Josephine Metcalf of Greendale. She is also survived by a number of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death be her parents; daughter Judy Cary in 2013; grandson Jovani in infancy in 2007 and brother Harold Wilde.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Jefferson with the Rev. Matthew Krenke presiding. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-6 p.m. at the Olsen-Gibson Funeral Home and on Thursday from noon until the time of service at the church. Margaret will be laid to rest at Union Cemetery following the service.
